CHOSEN WARRIOR is Here.
We are excited to announce the release of Chosen Warrior, the true story of Rosana Schaack's remarkable journey from a little girl in Liberia, told she had little worth, to a leader who has spent her life restoring hope to vulnerable women and children. Co-authored with Georgie Davis, the book shares Rosana's experiences with disability, civil war, faith, loss, redemption, and the events that led to the founding of THINK Liberia.
More than a personal memoir, it offers a firsthand look at Liberia's history and the people whose lives inspired our work.
We invite you to begin the journey by reading Chapter One or listening to the opening chapter in Rosana's own voice.

About Chosen Warrior
Liberia 1958—At two years old, a sudden fever struck without warning. Days later, Rosana collapsed while trying to walk and could no longer stand on her right leg. Suspicion spread quickly through the community. Some said she was cursed. Others believed an evil spirit had claimed her. The Medicine Man delivered a terrifying diagnosis: “A dragon has swallowed her leg.” Her father’s belief that “girls had no value” only deepened when it seemed her fate was sealed.
But what looked like an ending became the beginning of an extraordinary life.
Rosana’s fortunes changed when an American missionary family took her in and raised her as their own. The education and opportunities she received opened doors that many Liberian girls could only dream of.
She came of age as Liberia descended into civil war. As violence consumed the country, Rosana worked as a nurse under siege—delivering babies to the sound of gunfire, passing through rebel checkpoints where a name, accent, or hairstyle could mean execution, and helping desperate civilians escape through the chaos.
Haunted by what she witnessed during the war, Rosana dedicated her life to rescuing girls the world had forgotten—child soldiers, trafficking survivors, abused children, and young women with nowhere left to turn. She founded THINK (Touching Humanity In Need of Kindness), built safe homes, and eventually rose to serve in Liberia’s national legislature, fighting to change laws and challenge generations of silence and injustice.
Chosen Warrior is the unforgettable true story of faith tested by fire, of courage forged through suffering, and of a woman who turned her deepest wounds into a mission that transformed countless lives.
Praise For Chosen Warrior

Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf
Former President, Republic of Liberia
“I have witnessed the compassion and determination Rosana Schaack has carried into some of Liberia’s most difficult moments.
Her memoir reflects the resilience of Liberian women and the vital role they played in rebuilding our nation after years of conflict. It reminds us of our responsibility to protect and empower women and girls.
Through both her service and her writing, Rosana bears witness to the courage, endurance, and quiet perseverance women carried through Liberia’s most painful years.”

Gene Brooks
Church Ministries Coordinator, SIM Liberia
“I could not pull myself away from Rosana’s story.
Gripping. Riveting. Heartwarming.
Chilling. Compelling.
Time and again, Sis. Rosie is snatched from the dragon’s mouth by God’s power and sent on a mission of grit and redemption reserved for the Lord’s most trusted servants. Chosen Warrior is destined to join the short shelf of classic Liberian memoirs.”
